ABOUT Kansas horse council

What We Do

Founded in 1992, with first memberships in 1993.  The Kansas Horse Council provides leadership with tasks such as getting the Livestock Limited Liability statute passed, assisting with the 1996 FEI Endurance ride in KS- monitoring health issues, supporting trail maintenance, promoting new businesses, providing education, and staying aware of legislative topics that could impact equine ownership or activities. Acting as a network resource for your horse related questions from zoning, fence laws, body condition scoring, where to find something, we try to help point you in the right direction.

Founded in 2003, the KHC Foundation is dedicated to providing academic scholarships to promote trades and higher learning endeavors for equestrians.

Annual Events

EquiFest of KS- the state's biggest equine exposition, featuring world renowned clinicians, educational sessions, and vendors with everything horse, from home decor, clothing, tack, feed, barn, and transportation.

HorseCare 101- a collaborative educational seminar where attendees participate in lecture and labs with different topics each year.

Regional Gatherings-bringing members and non-members together for news updates, events, and speakers to inform, engage and update industry participants.

Foundation Scholarship Awards- providing academic scholarships to members enrolled in an accredited trade or college degree program.

Horsemanship Rewards Program

Get Rewarded for quality time spent with equines. This program pays back instantly! Learn more under Membership & Signs tab- Horsemanship Rewards.

License Plates

Have you seen the colorful license plates on the road? $30 from each new or renewed license plate supports KHC programming and education endeavors. Ask your County Treasurer when you go to renew your tags.

Joint Memberships with Back Country Horsemen of KS

KHC has a memorandum of understanding with BCH-KS, acting as our trails arm- boots on the ground stewards of public trails for equestrian use in KS. We offer a joint membership into both KHC & BCH-KS to show your support for both!
