April 17, 2014 was a great day for horses in Kansas when Governor Brownback signed House Bill 2452 into law creating a special license plate honoring the contributions the horse industry makes to the culture and economy of Kansas. The bill was introduced by Representative Tom Moxley, a strong proponent of the state’s agricultural interests.
Beginning January 1, 2015, equine license plates went on sale at all county treasurer offices in Kansas. You do not have to be a member of the Kansas Horse Council to display this plate and for the first time, along with small trucks and passenger vehicles, they can be purchased for trailers!
The $30 annual fee goes directly to the Kansas Horse Council to fulfill our mission of providing the Kansas equine industry with leadership and direction through education, promotion and public policy advocacy.
Give Kansas horses the recognition they deserve by displaying these plates on your vehicles and trailers.
There is a onetime charge of $50 with the original purchase of each plate. This fee is required by and paid to the State of Kansas.
Remember, you don’t have to be a Kansas Horse Council member to show your love of horses!
